The above link gives answers from the LTA to frequently asked questions about playing tennis & Covid-19. In brief, tennis is back but members are asked to adhere to the following guidelines to ensure safe play and minimise risk of infection spread:
  • No more than two people per court (other than where players are from the same household)
  • No extra curricular or social activity should take place
  • Players should bring their own equipment and it is recommended that balls are marked and not shared during play
  • The clubhouse remains closed with the exception of essential access for use of toilets and lighting
  • Any member accessing the clubhouse must ensure that surfaces are wiped down after use and thoroughly cleaned
  • Maintain social distancing rules at all times (2 m rule)
  • If you or any member of your household has displayed any symptoms of Covid 19 do not play until 14 days self isolation has taken place
Further LTA advice for players can be found here

Membership fees for the shortened season have been reduced to 100 for families, 60 for adults and 35 for juniors / those in fulltime education. Existing members should receive an email with renewal details.

About us
We are a family-friendly club in the north Shropshire village of Baschurch, around 8 miles north west of Shrewsbury, and currently have approximately 130 members.  We are open to players of all ages and abilities, and welcome enquiries from prospective new members.
Based at Church Lane in Baschurch, we have two floodlit hard-surfaced courts, plus a clubhouse.  Courts have recently been repainted. The surrounding area has been designed to facilitate wheelchair access. For the competitive player, we enter Men's and Ladies' teams in the Shropshire Inter-Club Doubles Summer League, and also have three mixed teams that take part in the Winter league. There is no obligation however to play matches, and many members are happy to play their tennis at a social level with friends and family.

We are fortunate to benefit from the services of club coach Sarah Hardie, and offer tennis lessons to those aged 3 and  over. For the children, our aim is to provide a fun and safe environment in which they can learn skills and tactics and develop a real love of the game before eventually progressing to tennis "proper".
In addition to the playing side, members can apply for Wimbledon tickets through the club, and we also run occasional social events that are always well supported.
Baschurch Tennis Club is committed to prioritising the well-being of all children and adults at risk, promoting safeguarding in our club at all times, including all programmes and events we run. This Policy strives to minimise risk, deliver a positive tennis experience for everyone and respond appropriately to all safeguarding concerns/disclosures.
Our club Welfare Officer is Fi McGeevor (right).

We are proud to have a Diversity and Inclusion Policy that demonstrates our commitment to making tennis diverse and inclusive. The commitment to Diversity and Inclusion is upheld by all - Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Tennis Scotland, Tennis Wales and the Tennis Foundation. These commitments are fully supported by the Baschurch Tennis Club Committee. For more information about our general code of conduct please see Club Conduct & Admin Policies or for more specific detail see Safeguarding, Diversity & Inclusion

Baschurch was also among the first clubs in Shropshire to obtain the LTA Clubmark registration - for details please click on the Clubmark logo above.
